I am trying to make it a goal this Christmas to not spend that much money…So that means bulk DIY gifts for everyone!

For the ladies I decided to create bath bombs, which are actually really easy, and cost effective if you look at the price of a single bath bomb at a store, plus its hand made, and that always makes the gift more interesting.

So gather your necessities and let’s get dirty.

This recipe makes 5 medium sized bath bombs. If you want to make more I suggest repeating in segments, until your desired amount. Doubling or tripling this recipe will not work. The mix dries quickly and will not form correctly.  Trust me, I learned the hard way.

What you need:

• 1 Cup Baking Soda
• 1/2 Cup Epsom Salt
• 4 Cup Corn Starch
• 4 Oz Citric Acid
• 2.5 Tablespoons Olive Oil (or Coconut Oil)
• 1 Tablespoon Water
• 6-10 Drops Essential Oil (I used lavender for one round and orange for another)
• Food Coloring
• Biodegradable Glitter or Flower Petals (Optional)
• Small and Medium Bowl
• Whisk
• Bath Bomb Molds

Directions:

First add all the wet ingredients into the small bowl and mix. Set aside

Second add all the dry ingredients into the large bowl and mix.

Very slowly add the wet ingredients into the dry, whisking drops at a time. This is crucial, you want the final product to look like wet sand. Too much liquid is NOT the answer. If you hear a sizzling sound (baking soda), slow down on adding the wet ingredients.

Once thoroughly mixed and satisfied with your color and smell, start packing the molds. Really press down on the mixture.

Fill one half to the brim, then the other with a little extra on the top, and clamp them down together. Hold for a couple seconds, place on a plate or parchment paper, and proceed filling the rest.

Now you wait and let them dry. I recommend checking them every couple of hours to make sure the two halves are sticking together, they are not stuck to the molds, and/or not expanding.

Once they seem like they are holding their shape, take them out of the molds and continue to let them dry for several more hours. No moisture left.

And that’s it! You have your very own bath bombs. That wasn’t too hard was it?
