Beach Life

Sorry I have been MIA for the past 2 months, life got pretty busy that I just didn’t have time, and mostly the energy to write my weekly blog, but now that I am settled…it’s time to get back into my regular routine.

So, in the midst of this shitty pandemic, Adam and I managed to uproot our lives in Colorado and moved to Oceanside, California. We did it! Finally. This is something we have been discussing since last September (2019), and it’s weird to think that we are actually here. What is also weird to think, is that we visited Carlsbad last September, and life was so different…before the pandemic. Looking back, wow, what a difference.

So we moved from our 3 floored, 1000 sqft condo with a backyard to a 720 sqft apartment with no yard, and of course rent is higher because, fuck California right? This was a major adjustment for us, mostly because we have so much shit! We somehow managed to fit it all in..but man that was not easy. Also, life for our dog is now completely different. We can’t just let her into the yard whenever she wants to go outside, now we actually have to walk her around the apartment grounds, several times a day. Poor thing is so overwhelmed with the new smells and sounds, it is a lot more populated here than anywhere she has lived before. It has been one full week living here and she is just starting to relax…a little.

We were SO excited to live in an apartment that came with a pool, a gym, a garage and a patio…and let me tell you, all these things were a total bust. The pool and gym are closed due to Covid regulations (crying internally), our patio is a joke, literally could fit one chair out there, and the garage..well the garage turned out to be a three person shared garage, so we have to lock up all our things so no one can steal our shit. I know this sounds like a lot of complaining…because it is, but that is all!

I AM super excited that we are 10 whole minutes from the beach, and there is every shopping store around us that I could ever dream of. (Sadly, I hear they will be re-closing the beaches because people don’t know how to socially distance themselves, bummer.)

I’m super thankful that I somehow managed to land a new job, and was able to quit my last of 3 years. I started this Monday, and now that I finally have access to all necessary accounts, I feel like I can start proving myself as a good employee. I do graphic design if you were wondering. (Freelance is a possibility if you ever need anything.)

The main reason we moved to California was so Adam can attend the college GIA, where he got a full ride scholarship and was supposed to start in May. That of course was postponed until July, so we made the move, and then that same week we were informed that there is another delay…So who knows when school will actually start for him. As long as he finishes his program before our wedding in October of 2021, then we will be totally fine.

Alright, now that you know the ramblings of my current situation, I will start to bust out the fun posts again. I need to start cooking in our new kitchen! Hitting up the farmers market this afternoon (so excited) and hopefully will find some good food there.

Cheers!

Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found
a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit
crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
